The company was originally planned as part of a bigger future company also planned by Bayer. This bigger company was going to be called The Jake Bayer Company. There were going to be three sub studios: Open Sesame Interactive for gaming, Closed Umbrella Productions for movie production, and Radical Books for publishing books. This idea, though, was eventually dropped.
However, Open Sesame Interactive still ran and its name was changed to Open Sesame Games in late summer 2011. The name was changed again to Closed Umbrella Games between December 2011 and February 2012.
Closed Umbrella Games began development on JJ Nikster on December 5, 2011 and ended it in August 2012. Closed Umbrella Games began development on JJ Nikster 2: Senate of Destruction in January 2013 and ended it on September 22, 2013. Closed Umbrella Games began development on JJ Nikster 3: Eastern Operation on October 29, 2013.
April Fools' jokeEdit
On April 1, 2014, Closed Umbrella Games announced that they were cancelling the development of JJ Nikster 3: Eastern Operation due to their hardware breaking. Later that day, they revealed that it was an April Fools' joke and have no plans to cancel Eastern Operation.
